About me
Amy Yamamoto Callahan is a devoted advocate for mental health and education, currently serving as the advocacy director for the Cook Center for Human Connection. With over 27 years of experience in various educational roles—including as a consultant, teacher, and administrator—Amy is passionate about eradicating suicide and promoting mental well-being. She champions initiatives that advance education and mental health equity.
As the first Asian American Board Trustee for Ventura USD and a member of the inaugural McKinsey Asian Executive Leadership Cohort, Amy has taken on significant leadership roles, including her contributions to Dr. Ken Magdaleno's CLEAR Board of Directors and serving as interim CFO. She also serves as an advisor on the steering committee for Dr. Amy Cranston’s non-profit, SEL4CA, and has been honored with the 2023 American Heart Association Leaders of Impact and Women of Impact Award for her efforts in raising awareness about heart disease, inspired by her own journey with A-Fibrillation.
In her personal life, Amy finds joy as a mother to two remarkably strong daughters. Together, they participate in women and girl empowerment movements, such as Dr. Jacqueline Sanderlin’s Why Not? Incubator, where Amy serves as the VP of Innovation. Through her journey, she fosters a community’s collective impact, cultivates sister circles, and nurtures authentic human connections while embodying personal growth, gratitude, and aloha.
